Board of Trustees: January 2021

At the January 14 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board unanimously approved a resolution authorizing lease of certain real property located on the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Upper Valley Campus to the City of St. Helena for municipal purposes. Board chair Jennifer Baker appointed board members to committees and college foundations and ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Foundation executive director Jessica Thomason provided an update on foundation activities.

Most people think of retirement as that time in life when one has reached a suitable age or level of financial stability to quit working at a job, opting instead to spend time doing what one enjoys. But what if those things are the same things? Is it still retirement?

Board of Trustees: December 2020

At the December 17 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board approved the certification of the November election and welcomed newly elected trustee Inez DeLuna (District 6), and returning board members Jennifer Baker (District 1) and Raphael Rios (District 7).

NVC Dean of Disability Support Programs and Services Retires

After 18 years of counseling, supporting, interpreting, teaching, leading, advocating and yes, dancing, Sheryl Fernandez, NVC’s Dean of Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS), will officially retire on December 30, 2020, marking the end of a four-decade career serving people with disabilities via her passion for mental health and counseling.

From High School Dropout to NVC Instructor

There are no β€œtypical” students at ΒιΆΉΣ³»­. There are, however, thousands of stories of how people, circumstances, resources such as the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Foundation, and individual motivation come together to create beautiful, inspirational stories of determination and aptitude. This is one of those stories.
